Before you take off your hats in disgust that the current one will go away, because you hate change, stop.
This new logo isn't changing the old. The current one will be the current one still. There is still nothing wrong with that.
"So why change?" You hurled your voice at me in protest. "Why must you step on a legacy so clearly defined by the logo's design?"
You know, the answer is really simple. Say you're out and about in Orange County (spoilers), and you really, really want to look up to the skies (another spoiler), what do you do? You don't want a full square blocking your view, and you want to make sure it's Yellow Optic, not some racist-sounding variant.
So you will see this delightful logo by Sean King - I'll link to your Twitter for now, Sean. Don't kill me if that's not enough. - In many, many Optic advertising and marketing efforts. Why? Because one night in Orange County will suffice to explain.
