Resumption of updates

Yellow Optic will be back in action in San Francisco on August 11, 2018.

Also known as the day before Kayla's birthday.

There will be quite a number of events starting, so keep an eye on the site.

It should also be expected that the rewrites will be complete. The Articles section might return on the 11th, though ideas are still deliberated on.

Stay tuned to the Twitter account for more info. Thanks for the support.

Hello SF

Two days ago I rolled into town and while I'm still unpacking stuff, here's a short update.

Material is still being worked on, and Optic itself will take a break while I get things sorted out.

An actual flag has followed me here.

An update will be applied to the internal documents. If you are an active artist, please take note, a new sheet will be sent to you.

That's all. More coming in a week.

Four Different Update Strands

A few days ago the DLC page was updated with a facelift to the Fool Me Twice portraits.
If you need more info, I believe there was a previous update.

Mixed Nuts sectors 33-34 is out, like, right now. Go see them both - 33 and 34.

A major Blue Days announcement is coming soon, put your ears near the Twitter feed to receive the signal.

A few smaller updates are coming to the site itself, just a facelift.

My Extreme Frustration with Ulysses

This might be an oddly-aggressive post coming from the Log pipeline, but something has to be said.

Ulysses is a dumpster fire in the iCloud sync department. For a person that uses only Apple devices and have subscriptions for the app to work between my iPhone and my Mac, the lack of proper sync is only very, very annoying.

Even when I checked the space on my iCloud Drive (there is around 200 MB), whether my iPhone and my Mac uses the same account (yes), or whether if my Mixed Nuts sheets are in the iCloud outbox (which they are), they never can seem to sync.

Well, time to copy-and-paste to Notes, then copy-and-paste it to Ulysses itself, because the official solution for this issue--

resulted in this.

Sorry for the delays for some element in which I have absolutely no control of. Maybe if this goes on for a week or two more I will switch to iA Writer.

Mobile View Returns

IMG_3121.JPG

Mobile view has finally returned to Yellow Optic.

Yep, it’s gone for a while. Had some bugs that needed to be squashed and misbehaving text that is causing issues.

With those issues gone, mobile view can finally return. No toggles needed, just get to this site on your smartphone today to see it.

Through a way better optic.

Golden Gate Update

Hey, it rhymed.

Thanks for your time. The following is a small update post in anticipation of the upcoming headquarter relocation to the city of San Francisco.

Fine, fine, I'll put away that text modulator now.

Yeah, I'll be there around late-July, and of course, being a big move (which I haven't done since 2010 moving literally three blocks) up North, Yellow Optic will lose its scheduled content for that week. So expect no Mixed Nuts and social media updates around those few days (ie, July 27 through August 4).

Print suppliers and staff movements will also be expected then. An upcoming post will have more on that. Expect less than a quarter worth of a hike, and the taxes, of course.

Major update for Optic going forwards through 2020 will be made on Kayla's birthday.

Rescheduling of Mixed Nuts

Part 15 is out now. Yes.
Story-wise, this is the one you should look at, so go check it out right now.

Also, just a heads-up, Mixed Nuts will now be uploaded every Sunday.

Truly groundbreaking. One day later.

Just allow me the opportunity to go eat some gravy mashed potatoes. That's all I ask.

Kayla loves the mashed potatoes too. I suggest you send a telegram over.

Miscellaneous Update Alpha

I have around six to seven small updates that I might as well collect them into one Log post. Fun.

Mixed Nuts returns June 17
As the title suggests. Still working on ironing out a few kinks in the storyline.

Log Archival
Trying to obtain the entire Log off of the site and into a full archive. I like keeping a giant archive of things, from art drafts, to manuscripts, to the site's small additions, even if they are jokes. And if I need to switch providers, these notes won't be lost.

Typeface Refresh Plans
Still thinking over it, but I'm very satisfied with the current Futura PT, yet I still believe the situation isn't perfect. Montserrat is a hit or miss.

Site Consolidation
Rewriting of certain intro pages such as Blue Days and Mixed Nuts, and indexing some more. Also over the next few weeks, some minute details that needed fixing or tweaking will be remedied.

New Franchise Announcement
More in December, maybe early January 2019.

Actual Archiving of Some Current Items
Might move down a few of my old items into a box. They won't necessarily disappear, but they will take less of a center stage since I believe there are too much things up there and it's really crowding the stage floor. Rather put focus on the greater things.

Optic Things

Yellow Optic chip denominations.jpeg

You might have already seen this on the Twitter page. These are poker chips, and of course, they bear the four flagship characters that I have right now.

Still thinking a lot about this, and a stepping stone for other inspired items. Maybe shirts, and mugs, and stuff you can get Redbubble to print for you in a store (if I do decide to open one). But I'll put the Optic flag into the mud first.

And no, please, don't do the green alien dance on there while singing "touch your thingy" in Spanish.

The Delectable

Tons of new things for Optic today.

Angel, on the right, is finally immortalized in portrait form. Get it from DLC. That's the gift shop that doesn't accept payment.

So she gets to finally sit next to her boyfriend and they would have a very wonderful time together.

Also the Characters sub-category received its own update. Both Alex and Angel did get their own pages, it's very nice.

Blue Days will host two more characters coming in a few weeks. Thank the artist listed in the DLC page.

The Admirable

Alex Fritz.png

I know this is long overdue-- but Alex is finally here.

Blue Days Character Portraits are coming soon, so will the rewrite of the description of the novel, and of course, a few more surprises.

He and his girlfriend Angel Vernon will both star in their own Character pages very soon, after Angel's eventual appearance in a portrait later down the line.

But yeah, something to hold you through, at least for now. Other portraits are close to the end of the pipeline, so once they're up, I'll tell you about them.

Find the full resolution of Alex's portrait at the DLC page.

A Little Update on Privacy

So with the privacy wars going on, some of you might be wondering what Yellow Optic is doing with this. Here is a summary.

Yellow Optic does not require personal information in order to browse its content. Reading shorts won't require you to put in your name, and there are no plans for anyone to have an account or have any form of mechanism that requires a surrender of personal information to be collected in order to access the full features of the site. If you wish, turning off cross-site tracking in your browser will not hamper your experience.

This does not extend to Yellow Optic pages on social media, however, those pages are under the policies dictated by the companies running those platforms.

This also does not mean that no personal information will be collected whatsoever. By default, all browsers conduct cross-site tracking - A mechanism that better allows sites to predict your interests through insight into past browsing history, which Yellow Optic could potentially be included. If you are browsing Yellow Optic through the Safari browser and no longer wish to allow cross-site tracking for all sites, click here to see the guide on how to disable it.

Yellow Optic also uses cookies to save cache data to ensure smooth experiences through distinct browsing sessions - such as the toggle state of the Dark Mode button - which its use is outlined in this brief disclosure. To turn off cookies, click here to see the guide for the Chrome browser, and here for the Safari browser.

Finally, Yellow Optic will request personal information such as names and email addresses, in program sign-ups to facilitate databases that will be used in the event that correspondence requires to be established, or in the case of a storefront, used to create, process, and ship orders.

All instances of data requests shall be voluntarily obligations by visitors as requirements to access extra content not meant for a wider audience, will only occur in the event where warranting such data has been deemed completely necessary, and all data handed over will not be disclosed in any form to any second party, with the exception of the facilitation of vital operations required to finish a visitor's request, such as credit card transactions used for purchases. All personnel and parties with access to such data upholds the same non-disclosure agreement as stated above, for any purpose.

As always, thank you for visiting Yellow Optic. And because we're not Mark Zuckerberg, we can respect your data like any normal person should. Yes, I'm talking to you, Zucc, you freak.

Beep Boop

So um, sorry for the technical difficulties, but I do feel like we have a lot of stuff back on track now.

I'm here to announce the exciting release-- beta test-- of Fool Me Twice: The Game.

Apparently you shoot people but there is no shoot button.

We are making this game, and it's still a work-in-progress, but who doesn't want a good preview?

You can sign up via links on the page. That's fun, eh. I'm suddenly Canadian.

Blue Wave

If you think I'm talking about something else, let me prove you wrong.

Blue Days characters are now available in the DLC page.

There's also some image improvements I made, including incrasing the coloroefnfiubibdibfibhbchbdhbhcbhbhbij e fe 9 9u09 u2 u8 u 8eyeheuhdhuisuhui huh hhuehfuehfushufhhfushufhushfushfusfhushfushfusfhushffuhrfh988 y28 2u9wuakoqjidbnjbjjokqoop wj e 09 ejiwj io i 8 98 jeiw id hqiu e98 hh e

Attention to Detail

The DLC page recently got a few updates.

Those who know me know that I am notoriously anal about the smallest of details for some reason. So I might as well do it for the benefit of everyone.

The old Character Portraits are in JPG. Compared to PNG, JPG has only a limited color palette, which means that colors aren't accurate (according to my spectrometer), and a few edges are compromised by notable artifacts that makes the hue transition poorly in some areas.

Realizing that, I checked back with the drafts that were handed to me by my artist, and we re-exported the portraits in PNG. Those who know computers will know without me saying, that it resolves the color issues and makes the image look perfect at every pixel level.

Screen Shot 2018-03-09 at 11.29.02 PM.png

In case if you wanted a visual example of the change, the identical image received a notable improvement in PNG (right) over the JPG variant (left). Take a look at the improved color edges at the bottom of Luna's right eye, and the overall composition now more accurate than ever.

The new Character Portraits and Profile Pictures are live now.

Dark Mode Arrives

I have wanted to do this for a while now, trivial but crucial.

You know dark modes? You know if you are reading an e-book, there is a toggle to turn off the whites and replace it with blacks so your eyes are strained?

Well, Dark Mode on Yellow Optic works the same way.

Click the button that says Dark Mode on the right of your screen to invert the color palette of the white background and the black text into black backgrounds with white text.

That should make it easier for you at night.

Mixed Nuts has begun

Very, very exciting. No links this week, but it will be easy to find it.

So Mixed Nuts has officially started, two new pieces every week on the Saturday.

Something for every weekend. Not an anthology, mind you, because only Charlie Brooker can master that type of dare I say, slapstick.

Link at the very top of your screen, at the navigation bar. Portions of Mixed Nuts will also go up at other mediums.

I just hope you enjoy this new experiment I'm trying.

Nuts In The Air

A fancy way of saying “I’m launching Mixed Nuts”. Fun.

February 9th. Mark your calendars. It should come in batches, biweekly.

I’m still inking a few deals so I have to work out the kinks before I launch the turds.

But yeah. It’s in my Ulysses library, so it’s good to go.

Literally just click the Export button and it could be on the site. But I’m a jerk.

Mixed Nuts page here.

Reforming Mixed Nuts

Remember how I said I wanted Mixed Nuts  to be a full series?

Well, with a few weeks on Ulysses I have completely rewritten the entire story.

New installments will be released every week, but it will be multiple installments at a time.

Kind of the “work on my own pace” initiative. I’ll release the first batch in a month or so.

And if you believe that the story will be drastically different, it simple isn’t true. While it is not identical (for obvious reasons), the story lays pretty close.

Planned to have materials made to go along with the series. Stay tuned.
